Ronald Hall

Obituary of Ronald William Hall

Ronald William Hall, 80, of Mesa passed away Friday October 20th of prostate cancer.

Ron was born on May 29,1943, in Morenci, AZ to James Oscar Hall and Lurline Patten Hall. He was the middle son between an older sister Janice and younger sister Vicki. The family moved quite a bit when Ron was young but settled in Bisbee, AZ when Ron was in 3rd grade until he graduated high school.

Growing up Ron loved to watch football on the TV and one year he received an electronic football game for Christmas. His family was impressed that he could play the football game and multi-task and watch football on tv.

In high school, he enjoyed playing the saxophone in the high school and pep band. He was part of a band called The Starlighters that played at school dances and community activities. He was also a member of the Latin Club and enjoyed being in some high school plays. One play, he was a detective and solved a mystery.

In college, he ran a relay race for ASU Institute. He also received his Bachelors while at ASU in Sociology and following his time in Vietnam went back for an MBA.

After finishing 3 semesters at ASU, Ron chose to serve a 2-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in England in the North British Mission. This mission was significant and shaped his life. It taught him leadership skills and gave him a stronger testimony of Jesus Christ.

The leadership from the mission came in handy when Ron chose to serve in the Army. After he had graduated from ASU, he served as a 1st Lieutenant in Vietnam Dec 1967 to July of 1970. He went to Fort Ord in California before officially being discharged in October 1970.

In January of 1972, he was married to Erma Elaine (Pack) Hall. They were married for 33 years. Ron and Erma lived in Mesa, AZ for most of their married lives and enjoyed raising their four children (Yvette, Seth, Brett, and Wade).

Some of Ron’s hobbies were attending  ASU basketball, football and baseball. He loved watching sports on TV, playing pickleball, swimming, crossword puzzles, traveling and visiting with friends.

Ron was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a kind man that strove to always do what was right. As a young father, he spent a lot of weekends in service—helping people move, working on their yards or painting their home.

He is preceded in death by his wife Erma Elaine (Pack) Hall and one son, Seth William Hall, and is survived by his children Yvette Weech (Mark) of Gilbert, AZ, Brett Hall (Stephanie) of Papillion, NE, and Wade Hall (Jackie) of Gilbert, AZ and his sisters Janice Hartman of Gilbert,, AZ and Vicki Holmes (Jim) of Boone, North Carolina
