Obituary of Joseph Matthew Hauptman III

Joseph Matthew Hauptman III, known to his loved ones as Joe, passed away on August 14, 2023, in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 46. Born on April 19, 1977, in Fort Scott, KS, Joe had an infectious smile and love for the outdoors.

Joe was an avid outdoor enthusiast who found solace in nature. He loved to camp, hike, backpack, and fish.  Among his cherished memories were the times he spent hiking the Grand Canyon with family and friends, creating lasting bonds and treasured moments that will be forever etched in our hearts. Joe thrived in the great outdoors, and his adventurous spirit will be forever remembered.

In addition to his love for nature, Joe was a devoted and loving uncle to his 16 nieces and nephews. He would spend countless hours engaging with them, whether it be through video games, baking cookies, or simply being there for them. Joe had a special place in his heart for the lesser noticed kids in the family, always making them feel seen and loved.

Joe is survived by his parents, Joseph and Dolores; siblings Kelly (James) Howard, Rachel (Bill) Johnston, John (Gigi) Hauptman, Mary (Ed) Mueller, Luke (Gypsy) Hauptman, and Sam (Shelley) Hauptman; and 16 nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on August 31, 2023, at 6 pm at the Praise and Worship Center located at 2551 N Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85225. A reception will follow the service, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together and share their memories of Joe.
