Obituary of Stella Nevarez Villanueva

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, and Friend, Stella Nevarez Villanueva, 82, of Mesa, Arizona left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Banner Heart Hospital. She was born on November 6th, 1940 in Anthony, New Mexico to Alberto and Alicia Nevarez.

Stella worked extensively as a private duty nurse before retiring. She was a proud Mother and Nana who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was a sports fanatic and an avid fan of the Arizona Cardinals, Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks. As a native transplant from New Mexico, she wasn’t too much of a fan of the summer heat but loved the beautiful Arizona winters.

Those who are left to mourn her passing include her son, Ernesto Perea (Bridgette) and her grandchildren Erika Perea-Clark (Trent), Austin Perea, Brandon Perea, Mia Perea and Makenzie Perea.

She is also survived by her brother Ramon Nevarez and sister Linda Gomez along with numerous other family members. She is preceded in death by her brothers Raymundo Nevarez and Manuel Nevarez.

As for her wishes, Ms. Villanueva did not want a traditional Catholic funeral and burial and to have her ashes spread.

Viewing for Ms. Stella Villanueva will be from 1-2 PM Friday, July 21st, 2023 at Legacy Funeral Home - Rose Chapel, 1130 S. Horne, Mesa, Arizona.
