Obituary of Lester A. Thompson

Lester “Les” A. Thompson passed away June 30, 2023. He was 67 years old. Les was born April 21, 1956 in Glendale, California. He graduated class of ‘73 from Coronado High School in Scottsdale, AZ. He tried his hand as a cowboy, a butcher, and was picking up construction jobs on his way toward Alaskan crab fishing when he met the love of his life, Julie, on a blind date at the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington. They married and moved to Arizona to raise their family. He was an excellent musician, hunter and outdoorsman, and had a successful career in construction, recently serving as construction supervisor for Paradise Valley Schools. He will be remembered for his larger-than-life humor, generosity, and true grit. Les is survived by his wife, Julie, of 42 years, his children Denice (Nick), Wayne (Leah) and Tom (Heather), his sister Cindy (John) and his brothers Loren (Gwynne) and Lloyd (Cheryl), four grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends he made along the way. Les was preceded in death by his parents William and Pearl, and brother Lindsay. Services for Les will be held on July 29, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Messinger Mortuary & Chapel at 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.
