Roy Fallbeck

Obituary of Roy Lee Fallbeck

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Roy Lee Fallbeck on May 20th, 2023, at the age of 83.

Roy was born on February 27th, 1940, in Estelline, South Dakota, to Milford and Vivian Fallbeck. He had three sisters, Judy Nelson, Jeanine Kelley, and Connie Souza. He was the oldest child and only son. He was raised in Clear Lake, South Dakota, and graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1958.

From a very early age, Roy enjoyed helping his dad on the farm in South Dakota and then later in Nebraska. He learned how to work hard and help others which continued to be passed down to his children and their families. While in Fremont, Nebraska, Roy met and married Gail Jones in September of 1962. Together, they had two children, Linda Speciale, and Randy Fallbeck. After they were married, Roy adopted Gail’s son, Allen Jones. Roy had many occupations throughout his life. He worked for Valmont in Valley, Nebraska, a company that made irrigation pipe and then shipped it all over the world. He also worked part-time for an auto auction for almost 20 years, retiring in 2012 and for Kings Food Host as a Manager. Roy hated the cold. So, in 1970 while working for Kings Food Host, he had the opportunity to be transferred from Nebraska to Arizona. Roy did not hesitate. He moved his family to Mesa, AZ.

In February of 1981, while working as a Manager at Whataburger, Roy met the love of his life, Annie Dolin. They were married three months later in May of 1981 and were married for 24 years. They enjoyed traveling and running several businesses together over their married years. On December 23, 2005, Roy lost his beloved wife Annie to cancer.

Some of Roy’s hobbies were making things out of wood and gardening. He was a very charitable person and a big supporter of Sunshine Acres, a home for children who have been separated from their families. Throughout the years he donated several new sewing machines to Sunshine Acres for the children to learn how to sew. He was such a kind, caring, and hard-working man. He was truly an example to others. Roy is survived by his sister, Connie Souza, daughters, Linda Speciale (Tim), Gloria Wilson (Mark), Cindy Dolin and sons, Randy Fallbeck (Kimberly), and Allen Fallbeck, 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Roy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Annie Fallbeck, his parents, Milford and Vivian (Fallbeck) Peterson, sisters, Judy Nelson and Jeanine Kelley, sons, Jim Dolin, Bob Dolin, David Dolin, grandsons Christopher Fallbeck and John Stephens. Roy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. We take comfort in the knowledge that he has returned to his Heavenly Father and is reunited with his loved ones who have gone before him.

A funeral service will be held in his honor at 8:30am on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, at Legacy Funeral Home, located at 1130 S. Horne, Mesa, AZ 85204. The internment will be at the Mesa Cemetery at 10am.
