Obituary of Ronald Louis Goldsmith

Ronald Louis Goldsmith was born on August 7, 1954 to Merle F. Goldsmith and Louise P. Goldsmith. I was their first child. Since I do not have any survivors I am writing my own obituary. I remember my young days helping my mom do things around the house like washing the living room windows. I became old enough for kindergarten so my mom put me in but I didn’t care for it much. My 1st grade class was bused to Village Meadows School, approximately 3 miles. My mom didn’t like that at all. We had Carmichael Elementary School a block away. This is where I had 2nd thru 5th grade. For 6th grade it was on the bus again to Fort Huachuca approximately 3 miles. 7th, 8th and 9th was a bus ride out to the new Jr. High, now called middle school. I got on the school basketball team in the 8th and 9th grade and in the 9th grade we had the only undefeated team up to then. I don’t know if this record still holds. On the buses again for 10th, 11th and 12th grade out to the high school at the corner of highway 90 & 92. After graduation I got hired on at the local newspaper (Herald Dispatch) it was while working there I took scuba diving lessons and was certified. After working there several years I came to the valley and put in applications. Mesa called. They had bigger and faster presses that I was interested in learning. This is the only place where I was on a crew that ran a million copies in 1 day. We did this on several occasions. I worked at several other places, then found a job at Phoenix Offset. This is where USA Today was printed. I was put on the front page, quite an accomplishment for a new man just walking in the door. corporate moves USA Today to the Arizona Republic so I was laid off. I tried hard to find another job but never did, with the exception of 4 weeks at the Postal Service as seasonal help. I was self reliant, kind and thoughtful, helped all of my family throughout life and was mechanically inclined. A punctual, hard worker with high morals who loves the Lord. My health has slowly slipped away, and I was called home on June 17, 2019.
