Obituary of Lloyd Verne McClelland

Lloyd Verne McClelland February 10, 1927 to February 27, 2019 Born in Spokane, WA to Jerry and Irene (McElroy). The eldest brother to Jim, Tom, and Dick McClelland. Lloyd passed away peacefully at his home in Mesa, AZ from the effects of Parkinson’s Disease. Lloyd served in the Army after High School. Married his High School Sweetheart, Marian Jones in 1946. They had two children, Michael (Nora), and Janet . While working at Northern Pacific Railroad as a telegrapher, Lloyd attended Gonzaga and WSC in Pullman, WA. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career took he and family to NY, NC, and GA working for Sperry Gyroscope. Seattle and ME with Boeing. Finally settling in 1961 in Sunnyvale, CA to work at Lockheed Missiles and Space. Lloyd was most proud of his time at Lockheed working on the Agena-D Rocket. Lloyd loved family gatherings (the more the merrier), golfing at the Elks in Sandpoint, ID with nephew Doug and many friends, peanut and pickle sandwiches, ketchup on his spinach…He was known for his “Lloydisms”, and his engineering approach to everything. Survived by his Children, Mike (Nora), and Janet Prust; Grandchildren, Brian (Clarrise), Matthew (Stephanie), Hollie Prust, Kenzie Prust; Greatgrandchildren Travis, Emma, and Abby. Many step grandchildren, their children, Nieces, Nephews, and Great Nieces and Nephews. Lloyd is also survived by Sister-in-Law and Friend, Ellamae (Jim) McClelland, and extended families, the Farmins, Nelsons, and Jordans. A Celebration of life will be held in his beloved Sandpoint ID at a date to be determined. Donations to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research are encouraged.
