Obituary of Margaret Smith

Margaret Louise Smith “Maggie” was born February 2, 1945 in South Gate, California. Maggie passed away on April 1, 2019, at home with her family by her side, in Phoenix AZ. after a hard-fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Her parents were Matthew Corbin Carlson and Kathryn Verene Carlson. She was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Kathryn Carlson, her sister Jewel Davenport and Ron Overton Sr. She is survived by: Pat Whitehead (sister), Laura Kimberly Overton (daughter), Ron Overton Jr. (son) and his wife, Stacy. Her Grandchildren: Corbin, Katiebeth, Cody, Carlie and Krista. And her 12 nieces and nephews. Her passions were her children, grand children, and taking a normal task and adding her special touch to it. Some examples of that would be her making our birthday cakes, quilting or just being an awesome Mom and Grandma. Over her life she also enjoyed road trips, camping, painting, photography, sewing and wood working. Maggie Graduated from South Gate High School in 1963 Maggie held various jobs ranging from Human Resources to several positions in the legal field which she would retire from. Thank you to Hospice of the Valley for taking great care of our mom and to Dream Catchers for making our mom’s final wish to the zoo a reality and so special. Also thank you to Glendale Nazarene Church for hosting the celebration service of Maggie’s life and making it a special day.
