Obituary of Duane Alan Wassum

Duane Alan Wassum, 61, of Chandler, Arizona passed away April 9, 2019. He was born on April 18, 1957 in Butler, Pennsylvania, the son of Louise R. Wassum and Lloyd I. Wassum. After graduating from Union High School, he served in the US Army Reserves. He earned an A.A.S. degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Williamsport Area Community College and a B.E.T. in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Gannon University. He married Karen Meier on April 26, 1980. Mr. Wassum was employed by National Fuel Gas for 37 years, retiring in 2017. He was a member of the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, Model A Restorer’s Club Niagara Frontier Region, Pine Lodge No. 498 F. & A. M., the Coudersport Consistory, and a charter member of the Crawford County Habitat for Humanity. Duane enjoyed traveling, old cars, and outdoor activities. In addition to his wife, Karen, he is survived by a daughter, Kelly Rae Wassum of Buffalo, New York, and a son, Curtis Alan (Kirsten) Wassum of Chandler, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel and David, and his parents. A memorial will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 27 at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, Orchard Park, New York with the Rev. Dr. Richard Young officiating. Friends and family will be received beginning at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church Legacy Fund.
