Obituary of Brightie Marie Hoyle

God has blessed and favored Brightie with a long, fulfilling life, and longevity has its rewards. However, we will certainly miss Brightie’s sweetness and kind, giving nature, but now God has called one of His angels home, and Brightie gladly extended her hand…It is well with her soul. Brightie Marie Hoyle was born April 21, 1933, to her the late Lathen Darnese Hoyle and Rosetta (Gill) Hoyle in Dallas, Gaston County, North Carolina, attending its local North Carolina Public Schools. Upon graduation from Highland High School, she moved to Detroit, Michigan to live with her dear cousin Lucille Orr Rutledge, wher she later met and fell in love with David Thompson. They both eventually relocated to Oakland, California. Even though they would eventually divorce, they still maintained great affection and friendship for each other. Brightie’s life in California would include her to being lovingly absorbed into the Davis, Richardson and James families; where she enjoyed participating in many of their family gatherings and holidays. She was an avid football fan and also loved to dance! She had long, prosperous 35-year career with Wells Fargo banking institution, until she retired. Brightie made her way back east to Tampa, Florida to compassionately care for her Aunt Susie Berry until her passing at 101 in 2012. Fortunately, her East Coast families greatly enjoyed spending time visiting her in Tampa…especially of her Niece Babette, Nephew Darren, and great-nieces Jada and Monica, and sister-in-law Gloria, and cousin Doris (Friday) East. After that time, Brightie relocated to Mesa, Arizona to be closer to her sisters Essie and Jocelyn…enjoying many social and church-related occasions, and gaining a new set of friends. Brightie was a member of Word Grace (Hillsong) Church and also attended services at Brown Road Baptist Church. She lived independently until her health started to fail and moved into Divine Grace Assisted Living Home with her sister Essie. She peacefully made her transition to be with the Lord on March 23, 2019 at Mi Casa (hospice) Facility in Mesa. Leaving to cherish her memories: sister Essie Mitchell; cousins Lucille Orr Rutledge, Detroit, MI; Oreleen Orr Warren, Hillside, NJ, Doris East (Philip), North Moorestown, NC, niece Babette M. Hoye, Irvington, NJ; nephew Darren M. Hoyle, Atlanta, GA; great-nieces Jada Ragin Hoyle-Gardner and Monica Nicole Hoyle; special dear friends Jack and Gladys Dooley, Gilbert, AZ, and a large host of family, friends, and “surrogate” families across the United States.
