Obituary of Boe Monrad Bergeson

Boe Monrad Bergeson, aged 45, of Chandler, AZ passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 9, 2019. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Bergeson. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Carolann Bergeson, his son, Rhys James Bergeson; his father, Jim Bergeson of Spokane, Washington; and his sister, Chris MacDougal of Duluth, Minnesota. Boe was born in Duluth, MN where he spent his early years, developing a love of radio control cars and downhill skiing. Boe and his family relocated to Spokane, WA where he graduated high school and then following in his father’s footsteps attended Arizona State University, his father’s alma mater. With a passion for Construction Management, Architecture and Development he remained in Tempe, AZ, where he has lived and worked for the past 25 years. Boe’s first opportunity in the A/E/C industry was with The Weitz Company, a National General Contractor, based out of Minnesota, with an office located in Phoenix. Through his experience and mentorship in coming through the ranks as a project engineer and then project manager, Boe also developed a unique perspective from the ‘owner’s’ side as he designed and built custom spec homes with his father in his spare time. During his tenure with The Weitz Company, he met and began his relationship with his wife, Carolann. In 2012, the year his son Rhys was born, Boe left The Weitz Company for an exciting opportunity to venture out on his own. RJM Construction was closing its Phoenix Office and needed new leadership. In conjunction with Nick Veldman, Boe and Nick took over the company and rebranded the small general contractor to Venn Construction. Boe, Nick and their team have worked tirelessly and seamlessly to provide their clientele, internally and externally, with the excellence and dedication we have all grown accustomed to as a leader on the forefront of the his exciting industry. In addition to Venn Construction, Boe along with Carolann and several other business partners bought and managed Caswell’s Shooting Range in Mesa, AZ, cutting their teeth on a new industry and continuing to provide a vision of internal and external team work and chemistry as a positive formula for success. Since that time, they have sold Caswells, but designed, created, opened and continue to operate two new indoor shooting ranges; C2 Tactical in Tempe in 2010, and most recently C2 North in Phoenix 2018. When Boe was not hard at work developing the businesses he loved, he also enjoyed spending time with his family on the ski slopes, scuba diving the ocean depths, tearing through the trails on the Mogollon Rim or at the Dunes in their Razor, camping outdoors, or traveling to visit friends and family. Boe’s other interests also included sports cars of any kind, NFL and College Football, and fly fishing with his dad, to name a few. Boe lived his life with passion, and he never wanted to waste a minute. Those who knew him well will remember his quick wit, his love of pranks, his tremendous work ethic, his charm and his charisma. He will be sorely missed. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 5835 W. Ray Road, Chandler, AZ 85226 on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Boe’s name can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, or the Firefighters and EMS Foundation.
