Obituary of Jimmie Gustafson

Jimmie Virgil Gustafson, 82 of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Hibbing, MN passed away at home on February 20, 2019. Jimmie (Jim) (Gus) was born April 29, 1936 to John and Bertha (Carlson) Gustafson in Hibbing. He was a 1954 graduate of Hibbing High School. He was a 5 year veteran of the US Navy and a 38 year employee in the airline industry. He was Station Manager at Hibbing/ Chisholm Regional Airport for Northwest Airlines prior to moving to Arizona in 1986. Jimmie was united in marriage to Mary Schuler (Rouser) on December 1st, 1978. Mary and Jimmie were avid travelers after retirement and enjoyed their many trips to Hawaii as well as numerous cruises. Jimmie was also a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan. Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Gustafson of Mesa, AZ. As well as his stepsons, Rick (Phyllis) Schuler of Gilbert, AZ and Mike (Anita) Schuler of Chino Valley, AZ and his step daughter Tamra Schuler of Florence, AZ. He is also survived by his sons Steven Gustafson of Chandler, AZ and Garry (Christy) Gustafson of Glencoe, MN, his brother Ward (Gen) Gustafson of Hibbing, MN. His grandchildren Mark Schuler, Jennifer and Garrett Stone and great granddaughter Sydney. Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John Gustafson and sister, Marlene DeGrazia. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 1 pm at Legacy Funeral Home, 4403 E Broadway Rd. Mesa, AZ 85206
