Obituary for Lelia P. Azbell

Lelia Patricia Azbell, 86, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Mountain Vista Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. She was born November 9, 1936 in Canton, Illinois to Jesse L. & Ruby J. (Thurman) Ward. She married Merlin D. Azbell on July 17, 1955 in Fairview, Illinois. He died, April 6, 2005.

Surviving is one son, Gregory D. (and Debra) Azbell of Gilbert, Arizona, one sister, Gertrude Woodell of Maquon, Illinois, one brother, Clyde (and Debbie) Ward of Payson, Utah and one sister-in-law, Shirley J. Moore of Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by 3 grandsons, Christopher Azbell of Gilbert, Arizona; Craig (and Jen) Azbell of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Kyle Azbell of Gilbert, Arizona and 4 Great Grandchildren.

She worked at W.R. Grace in Henry, Illinois for many years. Then, after moving back to Arizona in 1984, she worked for B & K Steel in Gilbert, Arizona.

She loved crossword puzzles, going camping, she was an avid Phoenix Suns fan and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. In her later years she enjoyed taking care of her Boston Terrier dog, Sassy.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
