Obituary of Matthew Clason

Matthew Clason, age 39, passed away on May 8, 2023, in Gilbert, Arizona.

Matt is survived by his two children, Maya and Ben, Parents, Roy and Linda, Brother, Chris (Lily), Uncles and Aunts, Bob and Shirley, Marlene and Thom, Aunt Carol, Great Aunt Virgie, and a very lonely German Shepherd, Ryuu.

Matt was a caring father who really loved his children. He was an outstanding cook and enjoyed making food that was flavorful and tasty. Matt enjoyed the outdoors and took his children and dogs hiking along the Salt River and the mountains surrounding the Phoenix area. As a former resident of Durango, Colorado, Matt enjoyed Jeeping in the Animas Mountains near Durango and the Rockies while attending the University of Colorado in Boulder. Matt was a graduate of Durango High School and played on the varsity football team. Matt was also an avid basketball player while living in Dallas, Texas.  As well as his junior high and high school teams in Plano, Texas, Matt played on a national BCI and an AAU traveling team.

A private viewing will be held for family on Friday, May 12, 2023.  His ashes will be returned to the universe at a later time at one of Matt’s favorite places.
