Obituary of Russell H. Oleson

Russell H. Oleson of Sun Lakes, Arizona, departed this world for heaven on January 30, 2023. He was 84.

Russ was born in Arkdale, Wisconsin, and attended high school in Necedah, Wisconsin, before starting his career at Chicago Northwestern Railroad. While living in Chicago, Russ met and married the love of his life, Donna. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage, and had two children: Lori and David.

Russ left Illinois in 1967 for Appleton, Wisconsin, and went to work for Kimberly Clark. It is there that he and Donna raised their family.

After more than 30 years of service, Russ retired from Kimberly Clark in 1999.

Russ and Donna enjoyed their retirement years traveling and wintering in Arizona. Following a few years of being part-time residents of Arizona, they decided to make Sun Lakes their year-round home.

In addition to an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan who logged many hours cheering and yelling at his television set, Russ was a man of faith who loved Jesus and his family dearly.

Russ is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Lori (Steve) Walter, granddaughter Rylee Walter, brother Roger Oleson and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Ethel Oleson, his son David Oleson and his sisters Donna Quinn and Susan Oleson.

May he be remembered for the amazing husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, colleague and friend that he was. Russ, you will remain in our hearts until we meet again.

A celebration of life will be held at Sun Lakes Community Church at 9240 E. Sun Lakes Blvd N, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248 on Wednesday March 15th, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.
