Obituary of Maureen Dawn Rodger

Maureen Dawn Rodger

November 19, 1945 – January 15, 2023

It is with heavy hearts, profound sadness, and shock for her family to announce the peaceful passing of Maureen after a number of seizures and falls since December 20, 2022. We all take solace knowing she is now at peace.

She leaves behind to mourn her life partner and love of her life Marlen Mollohan; her brother Bob Rodger (Barb) in Vancouver; nieces Coreen, Adriana, Carey, Roberta; nephews Rob, David, Graham; close and dear friend of 62 years Maureen Craigon in Winnipeg; cousin Gil Bramwell (Willy) in Winnipeg and Sharon (Norm) Kornafel in Montreal. She will be sorely missed by all the ‘family-like’ friends at ‘The Highlands at Brentwood’, where she resided until her death.

She was predeceased by her parents Bobbi and Bob Rodger; her younger brother Freddy who died in a motorcycle accident in his teens; and her dear Aunt Kay (Gil’s mother who was a sister of Maureen’s mother).

She had just celebrated 42 years of sobriety with ‘AA’ December 14th, 2022 and had always kept active with them attending periodic meetings and sponsoring new members. She always said it was thanks to them she got clean and sober to enjoy the rest of her life, which she did.

Maureen was born and grew up in Winnipeg where she finished her education at Tec-Voc high school. She was a natural when it came to athletics excelling in sports, particularly water skiing, downhill skiing, and playing golf, which she loved. Soon after leaving school, she bought a pickup truck and became an adventurous traveler. She loved dogs so got herself two beautiful dogs’ ‘Society’ (Afghan) and ‘Kelly’ (Irish Setter) and set out on a journey that left her settling in the city of Denver for 37 years.

She was a magnet around people who were always drawn to her beauty, wonderful smile, and warm outgoing personality.  She was a very quick study and always interested in learning new things. These attributes brought her great success in her chosen field of sales especially at ‘Mile High Office Supply’ and ‘EON Office Supply’ located in Denver where her many accomplishments were acknowledged and rewarded until she retired. Upon retirement she moved to reside in Mesa, AZ to be with Marlen and they have been together for the past 13 years.

The family are very grateful for all of the exceptional medical care Maureen received. We want to thank the many friends who took the time to pray, visit with her, and send emails to Marlen. She was a woman of very deep faith and had instructed she be cremated. A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held on Saturday March 4th, 2023 at 11:30AM in the clubhouse at ‘The Highlands at Brentwood’, 120 N. Val Vista Drive in Mesa, where Maureen resided.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Humane Society in Maureen’s memory. The site link is http://www.animalhumanesociety.org/ and is very user friendly to donate as a tax deductible Memorial Gift.  The Humane Society of the United States is registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
