Energetic, feisty, clean and organized, nit-picky, hospitable, generous, sharp-looking, opinionated,....ALIVE! She really enjoyed her pets and yet was perceptive and considerate enough that if a humanoid guest (like me) was not equally enamored, she would stage her home environment such that no one felt imposed upon. I will never forget the effort she poured forth when sponsoring that young lady from Russia. The authorities were constantly attempting to take advantage of her caring spirit, but she didn't care as long as any portion of her charitable contributions trickled down to her intended beneficiary. Towards the end of that "run", when the system of corruption appeared to affect even her beloved, yet she held no regrets. Maureen had an "on switch" that affected even her surroundings. When I first met Mo', we were both trolling the on-line dating scene, which resulted mostly in comedic or pathetic case-study failures in pursuing a suitable mate, yet I quickly learned Mo's heart was inextricably linked to Marlen, even when his attention was focused elsewhere. I seem to recall that she was respectful, but orbited just outside their orbit just in case she would be needed. Any suggestion on my part to dissuade her from this obsession would be met with a non-verbal yet profoundly communicative facial expression, that simply said 'kryptonite". When the time came for Maureen and Marlen to come together again, I could tell that it was a lifelong dream coming true for her. So Sorry for your loss, my man. J.P.

Our precious Maureen has left us with so many great memories! She loved to have fun and organized so many adventures for us!
I should have know there would never be a dull moment with her as the 1st time I met her was in a Winnipeg hospital where she had injured her back when sky diving!
We didn't always like to be a passenger in her car but once we arrived the fun started!
Just a few of our adventures -She saved the day for me when we were in Vail and I was to take my 1st ski lesson - I was terrified as I didn't realize I had to go on a chair lift - she patiently helped me on and then kept helping me up every time I fell once I got off the lift.
She organized a fantastic 50th Anniversary for her Mom and Dad complete with Uncle Don piping them into the surprise party
For one of Bob's birthdays she flew him to the Colorado mountains for a weekend of fun - Bob flying from Vancouver at sea level then driving from the Mile High City up to the mountains to ski where he got as sick as he has ever been due to altitude sickness -her remedy was taking him to a hockey game where his Vancouver Canucks were trying to beat her Denver Avalanche!
She had us all for the most fantastic Christmas in Denver where she dislocated her shoulder trying to beat Bob down the hill when we were skiing
Renting a van for all of us she organized a ski trip to Whistler where she decided not to try and race her brother!
We loved having her two years in a row for Christmas in Tofino - she was always so enthusiastic to walk the beach and never complained about the rain
She always supported Bob's waterskinig - one time by joining us in Orlando at a ski school then driving with us to the Panhandle where we had bought property on a ski lake.
We were so happy to visit with her and Marlen 2019 in Phoenix and got to golf with them the year before on our favourite golf course here in Vancouver
Maureen's feisty and fun loving spirit kept us all on our toes and we miss her so much!
Forever loving you Maureen

I didn’t know Maureen very long but I felt like I knew her forever. Her smile was magical and her interaction with you was real and you knew immediately she cared about you.
I am so sorry and send sincere care and sympathy to Marlen and her family.

WITH MY DEEPEST HEARTFELT SYMPATHY
"As long as we can love each other, and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away. All the love you created is still there. You live on in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here. Death ends a life, not a relationship."
You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived and loved you deeply. Your heart can feel empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared with her. You can remember her and only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, or do what she would want....
Smile, open your eyes, and go on!
Love Maureen Craigon in Winnipeg
PS:
“DEATH is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other … that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name and speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone; wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well.”
