Sylvia Medina was a caring wife, mother, nana, sister, tía and friend. She left this world on September 14, 2022 at age 59.
She was born to Manuel and Amelia Matus on October 2, 1962 in Phoenix, AZ. She was married to Tony Medina on November 11, 1980 and they enjoyed 41 years of marriage together.
Sylvia was an avid fan of the Oakland Raiders, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phoenix Suns and ASU. She loved to laugh and had a great smile that showed off her dimples. She was intelligent and loved to learn and earned an Associate degrees in General Studies, Art and Business. Her love of education extended to her professional career where she worked for the Education Department of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe for 17 years. As a proud member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe being able to serve her Community was extremely rewarding.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Tony and her parents, Manuel and Amelia. She is survived by her children Aaron, Alex (Monica) and Crystal, her siblings Mario, Rebecca “Becky” and Marcello, her 16 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and countless family and friends who will all miss her dearly.
A traditional service will begin on Friday, September 30, 2022.
