On behalf of Valerie's fellow Seaholm High School band members, as well as for the Seaholm Class of 1967, I'd like to extend our collective condolences. We were in the band together for three years, and she was unfailingly cheerful and ebullient - Valerie certainly could brighten up any place.
Sue Gurley Loveman, a fellow member of the majorettes, and also a flutist with her in the band, has this memory to add:
"I remember Valerie as the only majorette who really knew how to twirl. She taught the rest of us how to twirl, choreographed the routines, and made the whole squad look convincing."
