Obituary of Sandra Patricia Thiernau

Sandra P. “Sandy” Thiernau, 82, of Tempe, AZ passed away peacefully on July 8, 2022 with family by her side. Sandy was born in Binghamton, NY to James & Kathryn Jones.

Sandy was a high school language teacher and guidance counselor for over 40 years. She was an active member at Praise and Worship Center, volunteering as the head of the Hospitality Ministry. She was also a volunteer for over 10 years at Hospice of the Valley.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Cecil Dinsmore of the U.K.; brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Mary Beth Jones of DE; 4 grandchildren: Erin (Edvin) Ruano, Scott Cooper, Ryan Otten all of AZ, Jamie Otten of the U.K.; 1 great-grandchild Emilia Ruano of AZ; her step-daughter Suzanne (Ralph) Royston of CA, and her beloved dog Matisse. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Jones, and her spouse Albert Thiernau.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Praise and Worship, 2551 N. Arizona Ave, Chandler, AZ 85225 on Monday July 25^th at 5 p.m. with a reception to follow. Internment will be at a later date at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Mesa, AZ. Donations may be made in Sandy’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans.
