Obituary of Gary Alma Evans

Gary Alma Evans passed peacefully into the hands of God on June 2, 2022 in Litchfield Park, AZ at the age of 86. Gary is survived by his children, Tonya, Aaron (Tara), Todd (Tiffany), Luke (Amy), and Marc; He was a grandfather to sixteen; Meranda, Jacob, Logan, Will, Ashlee, Ester, Alekzander, Aubrey, Charli, Kylee, Gretchen, Emily, Mahaila, Kylee, Hailee, Melanie, and a great-grandfather.    Gary was born on the 2nd of July, 1935 in Tooele, Utah to Robert and Anna Mae Evans. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1963 with a degree in business. After moving back to Tooele, UT, After a short stint working on the Kennecott Copper Smelter, Gary went into business with his brother Derald as part owner of the local gas station/car wash. He married Marsha Perkes in 1979 and adopted her 3 children and treated them as his own. Over the next 5 years, the couple welcomed two more children into their home and both Gary and Marsha went about teaching them how to live, how to work, and how to love. His children remember him as a strong, loving, driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Gary loved sports! There isn’t a day that went by that he did not talk with someone about whatever sporting event was important to him. He also enjoyed singing and often sang in church choirs with Marsha. He was a handsome, generous, loving, and kind individual who loved learning and who was passionate about service and raising his children in righteousness. He was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  

Service Details

A viewing followed by a celebration of life, is scheduled for Monday, June 20th at 10:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 301 W Wigwam Blvd. Litchfield Park, AZ 85340. Bishop Ted Ashton will preside and conduct the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gary’s life. Please send flowers to Legacy Funeral Home at 1130 S Horne, Mesa, AZ, 85204.
