Obituary of Pat Mentone

Pat F. Mentone, age 79, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2022 at home in Sun Lakes, Arizona. Pat was born in Chicago on May 25, 1942 to Anthony and Connie Mentone. He was baptized and remained a faithful Christian his entire life. He graduated from Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois, the University of St. Thomas with a degree in Chemistry in 1964, and the University of Minnesota with a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry in 1969. He had a long career on the cutting edge of technology that brought him and his family around the world. 

Pat met the love of his life, Mary, on a ski trip to Utah. They were married in Minneapolis on April 11, 1970. Pat spent most of his adult life living in St. Paul. Pat was a devoted husband and father. He was known for his calm demeanor, wise advice, optimism, integrity, and quiet humor. His interests included skiing, model airplanes, sailing, travel, reading, and golf in his later years. 

Pat will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; children Suzanne (Andy) Keith, Gina (James) Hurt, and Michael (Loni) Mentone; grandchildren Kayla, Chloe and Mary Keith, James III and Adam Hurt, and Madeline Mentone; brother, Francis Men- tone and his wife Peggy; nephew, Quinn Mentone; and countless extended family and friends he considered family. 

A memorial service, followed by a lunch, will be held on May 31, 2022 at 11:00 am at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Visitation at 10:00 am. Memorial donations may be made in Pat’s name to University of St. Thomas or One World Surgery.
