Obituary of Carol Lee Zipf

Carol Lee Zipf passed away March 30, 2022 at the age of 87 in Phoenix, AZ. She lived a good life and asked that I put these words in her obituary “Do not weep for me. I am with my Lord and Savior in Paradise and it doesn’t get any better than that.”

 

Carol Lee was a strong Swedish Christian woman adored by many. She grew up in Chicago, IL and resided in the same house on Paulina Street with her parents Gladys and Al Lundborg and her brother Roger until she was married. She graduated from Northwestern University in 1956. This is where she met the love of her life, John Zipf (Jack). They married in 1957 and had two children a daughter (Debbie) in 1958 and a son (James) in 1963. Sadly, James passed away at the age of 30 in a car accident. 

 

Carol Lee spent the last 49 years in Phoenix, AZ with her husband and lived close to her daughter and family enjoying her grand kids and great grand kids. Carol Lee was very active in the Lutheran Church. She was a coordinator of weddings, worship, new members and a Bible study leader along with being a go-to person for the Pastors at her Church. She touched so many people everywhere she went. She was often called "the sweetest person I ever knew."

 

Carol Lee started writing poetry in grade school and easily penned poems and writings for her family and friends on special occasions throughout her life. She had many poems to share. She was also an excellent Pianist.

 

She leaves behind her loving husband Jack, her daughter Debbie, who was her best friend, her son-in-law Don whom she adored, five grandchildren whom she knew and loved, Keith (Christina), Kris (Brittany), JD (Vanessa), Tina (Matthew) and Codi (Ron) and 9 wonderful great grandchildren, Luke, Reagan, Lincoln, Carter, Nathanial, Alexander, Zachary, Saige & Bryson and their dog Lucy.

 

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to donate, please do so to the “Dobson Home/Hospice of the Valley 1188 N Dobson Rd, Chandler, AZ 85224” as they gave such compassion, grace and comfort to Carol Lee and to her family during her last days.

 

The Memorial will be held on April 22nd at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Lutheran Church with a reception to immediately follow. The address of the church is 11002 S. 48th St Phoenix AZ 85044
