Obituary of Nola Nanette Baker-Jones

Nola Nanette Baker-Jones passed away at her home in Mesa,Arizona on October 7, 2021, with her husband Wallace by her side. Nola was born in Waco, Texas to Robert Baker Jr. and Nancy Lee Thompson who preceded in her death. Nola grew up in Globe, Arizona where she excelled academically and was popular due to her extreme thoughtfulness and kindness. She was everyone’s best friend. Nola’s most amazing feat was graduating from ASU with a Bachelor degree, and she graduated with her Master’s at U of A in Counseling with a emphasis on Rehabilitation and Mental Health from the College of Disability; Psychoeducation Studies -College of Education after she became blind. Blindness became her motivation for independence and in helping others as a certified Rehabilitation Counselor III for the blind and visually impaired with DES in the state of Arizona. She loved her job and was dedicated to helping others. Siblings include Mary Simmons, Charles Baker, Jimmy Baker, Shirley DeGrate, Margaret Mckinney, Hellen Baker-Smith, Patricia Baker, Robert BakerJr., and Leeola Todd.Nola was loved by tons of nieces and nephews and a slew of great nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, coworkers, and clients. A service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Visitation is at Legacy Funeral Home – Rose Chapel 1130 South Horne. Viewing for the family is from 10:00-11 and friends from 11:00-12:30. The funeral will be at 1:00 at the Mesa Cemetery 1212 N. Center Street, Mesa , Arizona 85201.
