Obituary of Robert Jon Wood

Dr. Robert Jon Wood, 64, passed November 12, 2021 with his loved ones by his side in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Wood was born August 24, 1957 in St. Paul, Minnesota to John and Delores Wood. He attended Dartmouth College and University of Minnesota Medical School, completed his post graduate training at Hennepin County, Emory University and NYU, then launched his career in pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgery in 1993. He is survived by life partner, Martha Carland, daughter Dr. Laurel Wood, son Robert Wood, brother Dr. James (Dr. Denise) Wood, nephews John and Nick, niece Page. Dr. Wood engaged in multiple charitable activities; most notable were his surgical missions to Africa, Haiti, Peru and Mexico. He was an author of numerous scientific papers, an international lecturer and a recognized leader in his field. He enjoyed travel, reading, poetry, cooking, biking, hunting, and fishing. Dr. Wood will be deeply missed by Martha, family and friends, patients and colleagues. He will be remembered for his dedication to his profession and his passion for changing the lives of children and their families. Memorial service will be January 23, 2022, 1:00PM at The St. Paul Hotel with reception immediately following.
