Cal and I represented women in medicine as the only 2 women in our residency class at Hennepin. She was a dedicated doctor and good friend. Her work with the Navajo Nation during Covid was a testament to her strength as she was also battling a cancer that returned with a vengeance. RIP Cal.

I extend my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Cal’s family and loved ones. I met Calanthe in 1975 when we were assigned to difference suites on the same floor of a co-ed dorm at Bowdoin College. We were in a close-knit circles of friends. She brought a sense of Montana to Bowdoin with her and, as an unworldly Mainer (then), I very much loved that enrichment. I was always in awe of her intellect. There are so many memories and stories I can share but here is one: When she was in med school and I was in law school I would get her wonderful letters with hilarious stories about medical school (some of which I still share with others).

Calanthe was in my class at Bowdoin She was so warm, friendly, energetic, and kind. I so enjoyed the last time I saw her at a college reunion. I greatly admire her for her hard work and perseverance becoming a doctor, helping those less fortunate than herself, and maintaining a cheerful disposition despite her illness. The world was a better place because of Cal, and I will miss her. I send my condolences to her family.
