Obituary of Roberta Jean Lewis

Roberta Jean “BJ” Watson Lewis, born in Bradenton, Florida on July 19, 1927, passed away at age 90 on January 21, 2018, in Gilbert AZ. She was pre-deceased by her father, William Dale Watson, her mother, Emmie Thelma Powell Watson, brother, William Dale (Merle) Watson, Jr., and former husband, William J. Lewis. She is survived by her children, Katherine (Chester) Scerra of Webster NY, Britt (Mila) Lewis of Gardiner MT, James (Chiyoko) Lewis of Livingston MT, and Roger (Thea) Lewis of Burlington VT, in addition to fourteen grandchildren, Amy, Katie, Corey, Ira, Hattie, Wyatt, Tucker, Weston, Samantha, Franklin, Sam, Josie, Kylie, and Phin, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Valentina, Viviana, Lewis, Kirstin, Jesse, Jackson, and Ace. She also leaves her aunt, Martha Powell Chester, cousins Rick (Joanne) Chester and Debi (Ken) Ryan, and former longtime companion, James Ryder. Bobby Jean resided in Florida, Vermont, North Carolina, and Arizona. She attended Brigham Young University, held leadership positions in PTA, Relief Society, and University Faculty Wives Club, and was employed by Daffodil in Essex Junction VT, Eileen’s in Tucson AZ, and Ann Mercer in Tucson AZ. Many summers were spent in Yellowstone National Park as a seasonal park ranger’s wife with four young, active children. She was an avid reader and skilled seamstress, and loved stylish clothing, dancing, and her family.
