Obituary of Barbara Ann Collier

Barbara Ann Collier, 82, passed away December 23, 2021 after a long illness. She is survived by daughter Thalia (Harwood) Williams; son Michael (Tana) Collier; brother Shelby (Cherry) Stewman; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, a niece and nephew and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Zelda Stewman; her baby sister Thalia; son Steven Collier; granddaughter Stephanie Collier; and husbands Richard Collier and Lloyd Johnson. Barbara was born in Cherry Hill, Arkansas on May 26, 1939. She grew up in Mena, Arkansas with her devoted parents and brother. During this time she was active at the First Southern Baptist Church in Mena where she was baptized. After graduating high school she married Richard Collier (USAF) and they had 3 children. During their marriage the Air Force moved the family around the United States many times. They settled in Arizona in the mid-1970’s and she remained in the West Valley for the rest of her life. Upon moving to Sun City, Arizona, Barbara joined the local Southern Baptist Church and was actively involved in church events and activities. In 2004, church friends introduced her to Lloyd Johnson who she married in 2005. They lived in Sun City, Arizona and Washington State until Lloyd’s passing in 2007. Barbara loved to read, socialize with her children and grandchildren, and collect Gone With the Wind memorabilia. She also enjoyed making blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her blankets are treasured by all that received them. The last couple of years of Barbara’s life were spent at an assisted living facility where she received wonderful care. Our family is ever so thankful for the loving staff. Services will be held at a later date and will be short and simple as Barbara requested.
