Maria Scott

Obituary of Maria Elena Scott

Maria Scott was born on August 8, 1941, in sunny California. She was a beloved daughter, friend, and loyal neighbor. Her father served our country for more than 40 years so as an adolescent and only child, Maria moved around the country with her parents. They ultimately ended up making a permanent home here in Arizona. As a longtime Chandler resident, Maria graduated from Chandler High School in 1959 and attended Arizona State University later in life where she earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. She had a career as a local substitute teacher and also did some work at a local dental office. She ultimately decided to retire and devote the rest of her days focusing on what interested her most, which was relaxing with a good book, keeping her mind active with challenging crossword puzzle, or being outdoors. She loved art and dabbled in oil paintings, photography, and sketches throughout her lifetime. She appreciated the company of her neighbors, who all knew her as Ms. Maria, her local church community, and her pets, whom she loved dearly. Maria was intelligent and sharp. She was passionate, a pistol in many ways, and a fighter till the very end. She believed in the goodness of humanity and humanity believed in her. She will be truly missed by her friends and community.
