Obituary of Esteo Padilla

Esteo “Audie” Padilla, 84, died January 19, 2022 in Mesa, AZ. Audie was born in Winslow, AZ May 25, 1937 to Serafin and Rosa (Herrera) Padilla as the younger of twin boys. After growing up in Winslow with his five siblings, he served in the United States Air Force where he lived around the world and retired after serving for 20 years. Later, he worked for the United States Veteran Administration for 23 years. He made his home in the Phoenix area since 1975, and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Audie is lovingly remembered as a devoted family man, a dependable optimist, and a tireless task master who got things done. He beat cancer 4 times, was constantly on the go, and always willing to help others. Audie enjoyed visiting with family, metal detecting, fishing, watching westerns, and eating sweets. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Sanchez) Padilla; sisters Frances Benson, Flora Barns, and Angelina Sanchez; uncle Joe Padilla of Winslow; daughter Rosemarie (Victor) Sesate and son Robert (Maria) Padilla; grandchildren Marisa (Zach) Brodt, Victor (Diana) Sesate, Vanessa (Landon) Berryman, Robert (Karen) Hulen, Damon (Jay) Padilla, Kyle Garcia, and Levi (Kylie) Padilla; and, numerous loved great and great-great grandchildren, family, and friends. A private celebration of life will be held at a future date.
