Richard George Masserang

RICHARD GEORGE MASSERANG, 84, passed away July 13, 2017. He was born September 12, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph and Katie Masserang.  He proudly served in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War and returned home to marry Sylvia Mitchell (deceased).  They raised 8 children; 6 of which survive and 2 greeted him in heaven.  Richard was a life long businessman who owned, operated, and managed numerous businesses.  He was an incredibly hard worker who couldn’t sit still and even after retirement he started a car detailing company.  For decades he was involved in the Knights of Columbus and he enjoyed traveling, reading, and casino games. He loved to play golf with his “best buddy” and grandson, Jerod.  Scottsdale, Arizona was home for the past 40 years and he will be forever loved and greatly missed by his wife of 35 years, Maureen, who survives.  He is survived by 7 children: Sherry (Tim) Fellows of Grandville, MI.  Greg (Sharon) Masserang of Lake City, MI.  Debbie (Rick) Alexander of Mancelona, MI. Donald Masserang of Grand Rapids, MI. David (Tonya) Masserang of Hudsonville, MI. Mary (Greg) Heeren of Manton, MI and Terra (Jeff) Palazzetti of Chandler, AZ. He has 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.  A private family service is planned for the near future. Memorial contributions may be given to your local Commission on Aging or elder care program.
